Beauty School Plans Hair Loss Benefit

Beauty school students at a technical school in Clearfield, PA are hosting a benefit for individuals struggling with hair loss next week, complete with tailored services and products for this sector of their future client base.

The students of Clearfield County Career and Technology Center’s beauty school learned of the special issues facing those with hair loss and decided to join together and enact a community project meant to convey their theme and message: It’s So Much More Than Hair.

The benefit will run from 5 to 8 PM on March 8th at the beauty school and will feature various booths offering information and services relating to wigs, hairpieces, hair donation resources, and photography. At center stage at the beauty school event, a private booth will be setup where clients can get free wig and hair styling services.

Money earned during the beauty school’s “It’s So Much More Than Hair” event will be donated to Hope Is Alive,  an organization that specializes in assisting cancer patients and people with conditions that lead to substantial hair loss.

The event will also be submitted to the Skills USA state cosmetology competition in April, where beauty school students compete to be recognized as skillful students in the arts of hairstyle, makeup, esthetics, and nail technology. The beauty school landed three first place wins at the district level and students hope that this event will help them score at the top of the statewide round of the competition.

With the event bearing down on them, students are collecting all of the donations they can find related to wigs, hair pieces, scarves, hats, and more that are tailored to fit the needs of people suffering from hair loss for any reason.  Donations for the event are being accepted at the beauty school up until the day of the event.
